Our employees put out customers’s users into accessing groups for our web application, in our Web Client directory. Each customer entity is a group. In 5 you had to work a bit harder to select the Person. In 6, if you use Search for Names Starting With…if Notes finds the guy it THINKS you meant, it PUTS him in the group! I have no way of knowing if the users are doing this wrong! To avoid this, I have to get it across to my users that they must only use teh beginning of the name, since if you type Jones, the first Jones it finds is going in. I wish Notes hadn’t messed with this! I know I will have a customer getting into a site where he doesn’t belong! If there is any way around this aggressive action, I’d sure like to hear about it. Thanks.
Subject: Too EZ to Put Wrong People in Group on 6!
It doesn’t add anything until your user hits enter , even if you type the entire name.
Subject: True, but…
…in R5 you HAD to hit enter to complete the search and then hit enter again to add the person to the list.
In 6.5 if you hit enter you add the person to the list immediately - even if they don’t match your search. So, they’ve removed an extra step (which is good), but in the process may have caused some problems.
Habits are hard to change and in this case it could cause problems if people have been so used to doing it another way.
I don’t know of a way to change this, other than making a custom dialog to handle the work.
