Text fields in browsers (rows, wrapping, submission, etc.)

I have a Notes form that’s being accessed using both a Notes client and through a browser (IE). My question is about how a simple text field behaves in a browser.

First, I’ve set the text field’s HTML Other tag to size=100% so it spans the screen. But how can I increase the number of rows that display? (I’ve tried using the “Native OS style” instead of Notes so I could specify sizes, but these settings seem to have no effect.)

Second, how can I allow multiple lines of input?

Third, while in the text field, sometimes pressing the Enter button causes the form to submit, and sometimes not. We do not want it to submit with the Enter key (in fact, we want multiple lines). I’ve tried making the field multi-value with values separated by a new line, but this doesn’t work.

Marc,

On the web, this is called a TextArea. It’s what we notes folks would think of as a rtf without the “rich”.

I’m not sure what you mean by that. I don’t see any options for making this a “TextArea.” Is there a way to resolve the issues?

There is no built in conversion for TextArea from a text field. What you’ll have to do is hand code the HTML. (Computed text works well for this). Name the text area the same as your field. Hide the field from the web, hide the text area from Notes.

Okay, thanks!

(I think we’ll just make it a richtext field in this situation.)
