"tell event clean <view name>" doesn't work for me

Since a couple of weeks ago, DDM reports that there are a # of duplicate events on events4.nsf. I followed the suggestion in the event in question, of using “tell event clean ”, but the server console said that it didn’t find any duplicate documents and didn’t delete anything.

After that I made the mistake of deleting the duplicates, then DDM complained that there’s missing documents. I put them back and I’m back at square 1.

What can I do? Using the console command doesn’t work because it doesn’t find any duplicates. So if there’s no duplicates, why is DDM reporting otherwise?

TIA

Subject: We 2…

are having troubles with this, now and then it seems. One thing, make clear you are on the right server, might sound silly, but check.

Subject: Oh well

That’s the one thing I triple check every time, that I’m in the right server.

Subject: look at the ddm report details tab

Which view is the problem being reported for?

The problem can be reported for both events4.NTF and NSF. Is your problem on the NTF? Unfortunately, the clean command will only attempt to correct the problem in the NSF.

The detail tab on the DDM report will list the duplicate docs. Please inspect those documents by hand to see if you can figure out why they are there. For example, the dates touched and by whom could reveal the source of the duplicates.

Subject: I have done it

and that’s where I found which entries are duplicated and deleted them, but then the problem was that there are X entries missing.

The problem occurs on events4.nsf, see this fresh example: “Database events4.nsf in view ($Messages) is missing 6 documents as defined in events4.ntf”

AARGH!

Subject: try decrementing EventSetup to get those missing docs back into events4.nsf

Deletion stubs for those manually deleted documents now exist in your events4.nsf. Wait 35 days from the date of the deletion (which is more than the 30 days it takes by default for deletion stubs to purge). Then decrement the NOTES.INI value of EventsSetup and restart the event task. This should cause “Event: Upgrading the design and data of EVENTS4.NSF …” and is likely to restore those missing message documents.

Subject: This worked for me

I simply:1) Deleted all the documents from the view Advanced\Event Messages by Text.

  1. Replicated events4.nsf to all the servers.

  2. Copied all 7521 documents from the events4.ntf template.

  3. Pasted all the documents into the view.

  4. Replicated events4.nsf to all the servers.
