Since a couple of weeks ago, DDM reports that there are a # of duplicate events on events4.nsf. I followed the suggestion in the event in question, of using “tell event clean ”, but the server console said that it didn’t find any duplicate documents and didn’t delete anything.
After that I made the mistake of deleting the duplicates, then DDM complained that there’s missing documents. I put them back and I’m back at square 1.
What can I do? Using the console command doesn’t work because it doesn’t find any duplicates. So if there’s no duplicates, why is DDM reporting otherwise?
The problem can be reported for both events4.NTF and NSF. Is your problem on the NTF? Unfortunately, the clean command will only attempt to correct the problem in the NSF.
The detail tab on the DDM report will list the duplicate docs. Please inspect those documents by hand to see if you can figure out why they are there. For example, the dates touched and by whom could reveal the source of the duplicates.
Subject: try decrementing EventSetup to get those missing docs back into events4.nsf
Deletion stubs for those manually deleted documents now exist in your events4.nsf. Wait 35 days from the date of the deletion (which is more than the 30 days it takes by default for deletion stubs to purge). Then decrement the NOTES.INI value of EventsSetup and restart the event task. This should cause “Event: Upgrading the design and data of EVENTS4.NSF …” and is likely to restore those missing message documents.
