Tell adminp process "what" for policies

If I set an explicit desktop policy for a user how can I force adminp to process it immediatley? Or cant I.

What server and client release are you on? Are you having an issue with this or are you speaking in hypotheticals?

You stated that you set an “explicit desktop policy” for the user. Did this user already have a policy configured? If so, did you only modify the desktop settings document? If you have an existing policy and modify a settings document under the policy, you will need to also open the policy document into edit mode and then just save and close it. There is a hidden date/time field on both settings and policy documents that the client has to see as being updated before it attempts to enforce the policy.

There is a command tell adminp process mailpolicy just for the mail policies. I haven’t seen that other policies have a similar command and they don’t appear to work this way. If you look at the console, it appears to try tell adminp process delayed when trying “desktoppolicy”.

In my experience, I can modify the settings document and then save the policy document and my policy is available to the client within minutes (if not immediately).

henrik,

You can log out of the client, re-open the notes client, it happens at the moment you authenticate with the server. I have seen this somethimes happen only after a fews minutes but also immediate.

Checkin the local names.nsf “hidden” view $policies. If you open that view, some entries must exists.

If not you can try several things to troubleshoot this. But i suggest that you wait for a while to see what happens.
