Hi all,
today I run across an issue I had not seen before:
I connected via VPN to our company network (FortiClient) and I realized my Notes client (14FP2 on Sequoia 15.1.1) was not connecting to our Domino servers.
Some of the errors I see are:
- on the Replicator page : Unable to find path to server. Check your network or VPN connection. ... etc.
- on the settings-ports-trace connection it is as if the tcpip port was not there:
Determining path to server <servername>/<org>
Available Ports: <- no ports listed here, but I can see tcpip on the preceding dialog
Checking normal priority connection documents only...
Allowing wild card connection documents...
Enabling name service requests and probes...
Checking low and normal priority connection documents...
No default passthru server defined
Unable to find any path to <servername>/<org> because Unable to find path to server. Check your network or VPN connection. If you have a working connection, go to Preferences - Notes Ports and click Trace to discover where it breaks down.
It is as if the port was not there. I once saw an error about the driver, but I cannot remember where (I will add info about it if I stumble upon it again).
troubleshooting already done:
- I tried to disable the port, close and reopen Notes, enable, close and reopen (nothing)
- tried to reopen Notes after vpn was up (nothing)
- tried to open Notes wih vpn down, check it was working with vpn down (I can reach domino servers via public ip), then started the vpn ... result is that Notes stops connecting.
- with Notes open, if I take the vpn down, notes starts connecting to servers, then take vpn up and it says "The network is down" in the Replicator page.
- I disabled the private mac address the macos offers to protect privacy (thinking that a different mac address than usual could be the problem), but it did not make a difference.
I can live with this (which is why I do not open a case with support), but maybe someone has already stumbled upon this issue and found out what was going on.
