Subject: survey - mail quota sending/receiving emails
I dont have mailfile quota’s set as yet, have just taken over this position. I have intentions of implementing a 250MB - 300MB quota, but need to get it past management and how to deal with users with 3.5GB mailfiles.
As for message size limits, we have a 20MB maximun mail size, but any mail over 10MB is sent in offpeak time (between midnight and 6am).

My suggestion would be to base your message size limit on what your users actually require, rather than on what other folks are doing. For instance, do your users need to be able to send/receive engineering animations (which can be pretty darned big), or complex PDFs with large numbers of illustrations? Can you force zipping of large files? Will current large files compress significantly?

I think 15 MB is quite low, given the simple fact that the mail file design elements take up quite a bit of space (unless you’re using Single Copy Template). Our lowest quota is 100MB. The company I work for is in the Health Care arena. I gues it all depends on your industry, records retention policy and mail traffic.
