We are testing out migrating our W32 servers to a single SUN server. Solaris is new to us, but based on the recommendation of our server folks, we installed domino three times on a server. All separate installs, on separate file systems. Installed GroupSheild as well, and we do not use Transaction Logging.
All went well, all three servers (in test) came up, are accessible…no problem. SO we run server.load for 1200 users against one instance and get great performance. We then run it against all three and get terrible performance. Re-ran the tests several times, and still runs terrible. Getting 22 second responses on average. Now, all three instances are only grabbing 1GB of RAM, so it is not one instance hogging the resources.
Only have 4GB of RAM on the test box, but that should be fine.
We are considering going to partition, but separate installs is ideal to us, and our server folks say that Solaris can certainly handle.
Any thoughts (keeping in mind we very new to Solaris)?
