I’ve run into an interesting problem with attachments with one of my users. I don’t think it’s a lotus problem.
User gets an excel attachment from an external person but can’t open the file. Basically the file is unrecognized.
Looking at the attachment you can see the text information of the excel file.
The sender claims no one else has this problem. I believe the sender is using a mac and some version for the mac. The sender sends in various formats from excel ver 2 to 95 - 2000, etc. All of which doesn’t work.
I asked the sender to send an attachment to my corporate email and hotmail account.
Here’s what I found
domino/lotus notes 6.5 - doesn’t work
outlook express - hotmail (http connector) - doesn’t work
outlook 2003 - microsoft lotus notes connector - doesn’t work
www.hotmail.com - doesn’t work
outlook 2003 - hotmail (http connector) - WORKS!
forwarded from outlook 2003 hotmail to corporate - WORKS!
so I dumped and did a crc/sfv check on the files
SFV file successfully created (5 files processed) …

as you can see there’s an extra 150 bytes on the non working ones
I’m guessing that the sender claims no one else has this problem because most people the sender sends to probably use outlook.
Has anyone run into this problem?
