I have seen this same problem before. It would affect only some emails sent to specific SMTP servers. A TCP Dump showed the following error: "SMTP Response: 451 See Pobox is now part of Fastmail | Fastmail"The link provided explains all about bare LFs.

We are experiencing the same issue.

Our outbound Internet SMTP Servers are Windows 2003, Standard Edition SP2 and Domino 6.5.4.

This happens intermittently though. Sometimes, 1 of about 10 to 20 will be delivered. Other times, messages to the remote domain will be queued.

If we copy the message from one mail.box and paste it into a test server that sits on a different subnet, but still connected to the Internet, the message is delivered just fine without problems.

We notice that this is not just one specific Internet domain, but a few Internet domains. However, we can send mail just fine to most Internet domains.

We also note that we can use Yahoo or Gmail to send to the problematic Internet domains without any problems and the email administrators at the remote Internet domain claim that they have no problem receiving mail from anyone else.

We tried chaning the MTU on the Windows 2003 server with no positive results.

The server also has 2 NIC cards, which are teamed. So we disassembled the NIC team, and disabled one of the NIC cards, because we thought this might be the cause of the problem (via an IBM technote), but that did not solve the problem either.

We spent a couple of days working on it, and then suddenly messages starting routing to the domain again without any problems.
