IE8 was officially released today.
A co-worker previously installed IE8 RC1 and experienced severe performance issues with Lotus Notes 8.5 rendering of MIME mail. Once IE8 was uninstalled, performance returned to normal (good). Another user has reported no issues, albeit he’s on a much faster PC.
As IE is used internally by Notes 8.x standard on Windows for MIME mail rendering (regardless of the default browser), is there an official statement from Lotus regarding support now or in the future for IE8?
Subject: my guess is you have to wait for the next MRs
so 8.0.3, 8.5.1, and if there is another 7.0.x build. I doubt you will get anything until then
Subject: Just looking for a statement, not an MR
@John
Likely a good guess regarding an MR, if one is actually necessary. I am more interested in information at this point. I’ve just told my uses its not supported until further notice, so don’t bother installing it.
Simply put, Is 8.0.x and 8.5 supported under IE8 or not. If not, what are the issues and then I guess we’d wait for the MR.
Not sure how long IBM testing takes on something like this, though the betas were out for some time, so one would think they’d just be rerunning confirmation tests at this point.
Subject: Disable embedded browser for MIME mail to get back performance
I’ve had the same problem. Now, i’ve tested some configurations. So i’ve found a workaround. You can set in Preferences ‘Disable embedded browser for MIME’. After this, the performance is back… and that with IE 8 on you system.
Subject: @Adrian - does disabling the embedded browser cause formatted email to break as it used to before Notes 8?
