We have just migrated over to ST12.0.2FP1 and one of our users can't login. We have found that it is because he has an apostrophe in his name. We are using Domino on version 14FP1 as the LDAP Source. Now I knew this was an issue back in 9.0.1 of Domino and I was sure they fixed it in a later release so has Domino14 got a regression bug or was this never fixed?
If it isn't fixed then is there any resolution for this?
Hi Richard,
I support both products and am not aware of any known issues. Can you please open a support case so that we can investigate this?
Thanks,
Casey
Hi Casey,
I did raise a call with support and I have just been told that the APAR I listed below is still in effect and was never fixed so it is correct that anything with an apostrophe doesn't work with Domino LDAP.
I am not really sure if this is totally correct or not. I am waiting on another response but wanted to make you aware.
Thanks Casey,
I have raised a call but this is the original IBM APAR I was referring to incase you are interested LO81179: USERNAME CONTAINING APOSTROPHE CAN NOT LOGIN TO DOMINO USING LDAP (ibm.com)
Finally found the issue.
One of our dev team saw it straight away when looking at the name in free text!!! The user in question has the wrong apostrophe. Apparently he had a curly one not an ascii one.
We can only think when he was registered someone copied and pasted his name from a word document instead of typing it out in the domino user registration. Domino didn't care but anything using ldap didn't recognise the character.
We did a re-name on the user and worked straight away.
