Hi,we’ve got one Notes Domain for four companies but now one company is going to leave our company group.
Now I have to move all users of this company with their mail databases and some applications to a new domain and I am not sure about the best way to achive this.
First of all: Is it the best way to create the new domain from the scretch, to certify the user
,groups… new or is there a better way to do it ?
I know about tools like CMT but I have to make it without any tools.
I’ve haven’t found any documentation about this subject at all. At least I found some post to get an idea about it!
Has someone experience with this topic and can give some advices ?
Any help would be appreciate…

Well, if it were me, I’d create a new domain, totally seperate from your existing one (ie build a brand new server and do a “First Server” install). Then cross-certify the domains with each other, then use the standard Admin tools to do a user/mail file move. (Obviously make sure the servers can see each other.)
You may need to create Adjacent Domain documents, but I’m not sure about that.

Subject: I don’t believe that the admin process will move mailfiles across domains.
A “Create replica” request can be passed, and a “rename person,” but not a “move mailfile” or “create/copy person document.”
I would consider either (a) archiving the existing mailfiles, registering the users anew in a newly-created domain, setting the sworkstations back up as these new identities, and then setting the new mailfiles to use the existing local archive, or (b) something like the opposite of this: . (I like the idea of giving the users mailfiles which have the same docs with the same creation dates/posted dates/etc.)

I tried to recertify the user in the new domain but I got the error:

I’ve looked around in this forum to work it out but I found twenty question about this error message without any useful answer.
If I copy the mail databases I have to change the readers field in every single database; I had hoped this could do the Adminp process for me…
Anyway, does anyone know a list of fields ( ithink oly Reader fields will be importend or knows a program to change it ?

If this message is referring to a certifier from another domain, then all you have to do is copy and paste the certifier document from one NAB to the other.

What readers field? In general, you can’t do a name change against a name that you haven’t selected as a person document containing the old name. (Although I believe you can code it through the LS adminprocess class.)

Yes, I thought the build up a new domain would be the best, but I have no experience yet.
I guess I have to change some readers fields in mail databases as well…
Do you mean the AdminP process with the term "standard Admin tool ? Should I recertify the user instead of creating them from the scratch and copy only the databases to the new server ?

You might want to checkout the Domino 6 admin guide chapter 15. The Adminp process will do most of the work for you.

I actually meant use the Domino Administrator, People View, and do the move (which kicks AdminP into performing the task).
