Hi,
As a Lotus Notes Administrator, I’d like to set up (for each user) a “Transfer Archive to yearly archive” process:
split a (potentially huge) local archive database into yearly archive databases who would be stored on CDs or DVDs, according to their size.
Is there any easy way to achieve this?
Up to now, I :
-
create manually empty yearly databases (by copying the “current” archive database - design only)
-
set up the “Archive Options” in the “current” archive database
-
select the documents related to one year in the “current” archive database and use the “Archive Tool” to perform the archive to the related yearly archive database
-
repeat steps 2. and 3. for each year
This procedure works but it’s a bit heavy and is almost impossible to be set up and performed by a “lambda” Notes user.
I suppose I should write an agent who:
-
scans the “current” archive database and detects the oldest document (let’s suppose this document is year 2002)
-
creates automatically a local “Archive 2002” database, a local “Archive 2003” database, a local “Archive 2004” database, a local “Archive 2005” database
( 2005=current year-2 ; current year and current year-1 documents shoud stay in the “current” archive database).
- fills the yearly archive databases with the related documents:
-
scan all folders and copy and delete year 2002 documents to archive 2002 database
-
scan all folders and copy and delete year 2003 documents to archive 2003 database
-
scan all folders and copy and delete year 2004 documents to archive 2004 database
-
scan all folders and copy and delete year 2005 documents to archive 2005 database
Did anybody meet the same problem to solve?
Are they existing resources anywhere related to this goal?
(code resources - we’d like to avoid the use of another expensive third part product)
We’re still in Lotus Domino R6.5, maybe dedicated tools exist in relaese 7?
Any suggestions are welcome…
Thank you by advance,
