Sort Inbox by Subject disregardnig any "re"s or "fd"s

Is there a way to easily customize (in 7.0.2) the sorting of the inbox so that the sort by Subject ignores any “re:” or “fd:” prefixes like the Outlook client does?

Back in R5 I heard this was coming but don’t see it.

TIA,

You can change the Subject column to something like the below, and add a sort

Cheers

Peter

tmpSubject1 := Subject;

@While(@Left(@LowerCase(tmpSubject1);3) = “re:” | @Left(@LowerCase(tmpSubject1);3) = “fw:” | @Left(@LowerCase(tmpSubject1);4) = “fwd:”;

tmpSubject1 := @If(@Left(@LowerCase(tmpSubject1);4) = “fwd:”;@Trim(@RightBack(tmpSubject1;4));@Trim(@RightBack(tmpSubject1;3)))

);

tmpSubject2 := @If(tmpSubject1 = “”;“No Subject”;tmpSubject1);

@If(

form = “NonDelivery Report” & (!@IsAvailable(SMTPDSNType) | SMTPDSNType = “0”); "DELIVERY FAILURE: " + FailureReason;

form = “NonDelivery Report” & @IsAvailable(SMTPDSNType) & SMPTDSNType != “0”; "DELIVERY NOTIFICATION: " +

FailureReason;

Form = “Delivery Report”; "DELIVERED: " + Subject; Form = “Return Receipt”; "RECEIVED: " + Subject; Form = “ReturnNonReceipt”; "NOT RECEIVED: " + Subject;

tmpSubject2

The above code removes the “re” and “fd” items so that when the column is sorted, it keeps the same group of emails together.But then you lose the knowledge of which email was first, which one was forwarded and replied to etc.

I guess what I was hoping for is to maintain the “re” and “fd” prefixes but to just ignore them when sorting.

not possible in 7.0.2?

thks,

Not as far as I’m aware, someone else might have a workaround

I appreciate the effort, I’ll call Lotus and make a request for the next release
