I can sort by subject in my inbox, sent mail, trash, etc. but not in any of my folders and there doesn’t seem to be an option to change this. I know I can change the design of the folder but I don’t want to have to do this.We’re running a pilot of Notes 8 and this has been raised by numerous people already.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can sort by subject in folders in my 8.0.1 release (StdR8 mail template), so the functionality does exist. Try to see if you can do it with other databases, or on other clients. Also, you could try 8.0.2, it is out now.
Subject: folder design
Is it possible that your folders were created using a previous release of Notes? (They normally inherit their design from the Inbox, so the best way to check for this is to see if the action bar looks the same as the Inbox.) It sounds like they are perhaps using an older design, since you are able to sort by subject in Inbox but not in Folders.
Go to the inbox and select Action - Folder - Upgrade Folder Design and select “Inbox” from the list.
This should fix your problem.
