after contacting Lotus last week I now know that this problem is known to them. It is being investigated as SPR #SLED6LRN9K.
The problem occurs when a database is used as an address book, locally in the client or via directory assistance on the server.
The Notes directory template uses some protected fields like FullName. In my case, these fields where not in the database and Notes started to protect some other fields instead.
I hope Lotus finds a fix soon. Until then, at least I know what to do.
Subject: RE: Some fields marked as PROTECTED after upgrading to R7 !!
I do not think that this will help in my case.My problem is that this will allways happen if I create a new document, has nothing to do with old documents
The fields have never had the Security options “Must have at least Editor access to use.”
Subject: Some fields marked as PROTECTED after upgrading to R7 !!
We are experiencing a similar issue after upgrading to version 7. We have found that saving the document as an ‘Editor’ one time (as IBM states) does not resolve the issue.
Has anyone found a solution to this, other than giving all users ‘Editor’ access?
Subject: Some fields marked as PROTECTED after upgrading to R7 !!
We are also experiencing a similar problem. This is happening on new and existing documents. The database design does not have this option set on any fields. I’ve run an agent to clear the PROTECTED status of all fields in every document in the database but when some users edit and save a document, some of the fields become protected again. By the way all users have author access to the database and the author and reader fields have an “*” to allow all users to edit. Access can differ from document to document.
I’m still looking at the issue but if anyone has a clue as to why this is happening, then any feedback would be appreciated.
