SMTP to Domino Groups

I have an interesting situation…

I have various groups hidden and accessible to certain individuals and LDS. One 3rd party app server using SMTP to deliver email delivers emails correctly to the Domino - which expands the group membership and delivers the emails.

Another 3rd party app server obtains a “Not authorized to send mail to this user or group” error in the logs.

All groups are set up the same.

Both 3rd party app servers use SMTP to deliver email.

Both 3rd party app servers have IP addresses on a server subnet which is allowed to relay mail through Domino.

I have read all necessary documentation on the 3rd party servers and configuration is correct.

What can I be missing?

Any leads would be appreciated.

  1. Did you check if the format of the SMTP address of the Lotus group is correct?e.g. The_name_of_the_group%NOTESDOMAINNAME@domain.com

  2. What about this?

Notes/Domino Fix List Database

SPR # SEGN5HZJ7R , Fixed in 6.5.1 release , Security fix , Regression in 6.0

With this fix, the Router will ignore the reader list and allow email to be sent to a Person document, but not to a Group document. In addition, the Administrator can set “RouterDisableReadersField=1” on the Server’s notes.ini to bypass the reader list check for the Group. Please refer to spr CAMS5RJM39 for additional information on the ini setting.
