Hi, this is jagadeesh.I am using Domino8.5 server. If i send an attachment of size more than 1.6 MB, i am getting bounce back email with an error message “SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 552 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size” and NO mail is delivered.
I’ve changed ‘Maximum Message Size’ option setting from 0 KB to 10KB but still problem persists.
However mail with size 1.5 MB or less is delivered without any problem.
Please help me.
Subject: Are you sending it to your domain or someone elses
I’m guessing someone elses domain in which case there is nothing you can do about it, as the size limit is on the receiving end not the sending end.
Also you know that 0KB and 10KB are no where close to a Mb right? By changing this value, you may find a lot of mails coming to you are now being rejected, as before at 0K the file size was unlimited, and now it’s at 10k.
Always dangerous to mess with Admin settings if you’re not 100% sure what they do.
Subject: Mail Message Size of Greater than 1.5 MB sent to External Domains(gamil/yahoo) result in SMTP Error.
Hi Carl Tyler,Apologies for typo in my previous post, actually i set ‘Maximum Message Size’ to 10 MB. When i send mail within the domain having size more than 1.5 MB, it is being sent successfully. But mails sent to other domains result in bounce back email with an error message “SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 552 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size”
Please advice.
