SMTP Guidance

I happen to be very new to Domino SMTP services and I need some guidance. I have read the Help file but I am not sure where to start. I have one server that must be used for both NRPC & SMTP mail routing and I am not sure how to SMTP routing. What I have done is enable the SMTP task, but beyond that I do not know how I establish the connections with my ISP. Its a leased line connection.

Thanks

To send outgoing mail through your ISP I believe you’ll want to look into creating a Foreign SMTP Domain document in your Domino Directory.

On the routing tab of the Domain document specify . for the Internet Domain, and put your ISP’s info in the Internet Host field.

Though no one else responded to your original post I’m sure someone will gladly “put me in my place” if this is wrong

Thanks for your response but it still will not work. I am getting this message “Attempting to Connect: Host mx2.mail.YAHOO.COM, Port 25, SSL Port 0, Connecting Domain appserver001.sitzim.co.zw [08A0:0005-09B4] SMTPClient: Connection terminated with status: 2055” when sending to Yahoo account.

The server appserver001.sitzim.co.zw is not registered in DNS. How do you expect to connect to it if the ip address cannot be located?

I am passing through an ISP’s Relay Host (etrn.zol.co.zw) which I am able to telnet to at Port 25 but when I try to route mail it says “SMTPClient: Connection terminated with status: 2055”.
