I noticed that Domino freezes, while restarting the service does not help, only rebooting OS.
When checking, it turned out that the smss.exe process is holding the files of the full-text index.
Please tell me how to get around this problem.

The smss.exe file is part of the OS core not from Domino. It is responsible for running the Windows Session Manager or Session Manager Subsystem and for all activities associated with starting, handling and ending sessions in Windows OS.
If this file is missing or gets damaged, your computer/server may malfunction throwing some random/unexpected errors and crashes.
On the Domino side, there is no action that can be taken regarding this. So you need to perform a check on your OS side to ensure that all files are healthy and working fine. And double-check also the antivirus you have installed on the machine, to ensure that it is not scanning the directories used by Domino. You can use this article as a reference:
