SMDreal: Unable to initialize scan engine. Check the scan engine and pattern file

Got a Trend Scan Micro pattern update that runs in the early am. Update works fine. Tries to restart smdreal to use the new pattern file. Something untoward happens. smdreal is unable to restart. Not having smdreal kills mail routing. So basically no email routes from around midnight until 7am.Then, around 7am an agent written by our Notes guru does a show statistic and notices a bunch of held mail and automatically runs a tell smdreal quit, pause, load smdreal, and this jumpstarts the whole process. Then mail starts routing.

I’m going to open a ticket with trend but I was wondering if y’all knew what to make of this “SMDreal: Unable to initialize scan engine. Check the scan engine and pattern file.” message.

This is NOT uncommon for the one pattern update to not be able to restart smdreal.

Subject: Fix attempts

They had me try reinstalling an engine. They also want me to upgrade to patch 6. It is believed that the new engine does not “restart” smdreal but somehow or another gets it to activate the latest download.I’ll give this a try and see if this resolves my late night hang.

Regarding the problem that you had, i got the same problem too like that,can you told me the solution for that problems ?
