Smartupgrade Prompts not prompting at login?

I succesfully used smartupgrade to go from 6.5 to 6.5.1 for all users. I have now set up the same for 6.5.1 to 6.5.2.

If I set the smartupgrade expiry to a date in the past and I ask for hourly reminders, the upgrade prompt appears correctly after an hour but I cannot get the prompt to appear upon initial login. I have tried two different clients. Ultimately, I’d like to have the expiry date in the future.

The client notes.ini UPDATE_TIMER= setting was tweaked to see if that would make a difference (not that I would want all users to tweak their *.ini settings.

Any thoughts or guidance welcomed.

Thank you.

I’m just going to ask all the stupid questions to get them out of the way:

  1. Do you have a link for your smart upgrade database on the config doc?

  2. In the smart upgrade database, administration tab, are the people you want to upgrade listed here?

  3. Is the Policy you created listed in the person’s person document?

  4. Is the smart upgrade package enabled?

  5. In your smart upgrade package, list the FROM release as “*”, not “Release 6.5.1”, that way you’ll catch everyone at release 6.5.x.

  6. Is the TO release spelled out as Release 6.5.2?

  7. Did you attach the correct file? (c56syna.exe)

I have it working at 6 different companies right now, but you have to make sure you get all your ducks in a row.

  1. Yes, I modified my earlier 6.5 to 6.5.1 settings so didn’t need to change this.2. Yes, only two users at the moment as tests + I have added LocalDomianServers and Mail Administrator.

  2. Yes, no change from 6.5 to 6.5.1.

  3. Yes, so is the earlier 6.5 to 6.5.1.

  4. Ah, I left it as Release 6.5.1 as I am only testing two clients at the minute. I think everyone is at 6.5.1 but I was leaving the old upgrade in place just in case…something for me to tweak and look at.

  5. Yes.

  6. I have got c56syna.exe but was going to try the smaller c56t0na.exe…is this an issue as it appears okay manually? Another area for me to look at.

Many thanks for ‘talking it through’ with me.
