I’ve been testing various methods of upgrading our users 8.0.2, mostly from 7.0.3, but also some 6.5.4.Whenever I use the SmartUpgrade RunAs package I’ve built, the user’s Bookmark file is not updated to the new template.
When I run a manual installation, it updates to the new template automatically.
I’m not sure what I might be missing that is not updating the template.
In my SURunAs, I’m using a package created with the InstallShield Tuner that requires no user intervention (qb+ switch).
Has anyone else experienced this, or have a suggestion for what I’m missing?
Are you upgrading a multi-user installation? If so, there is an issue that has been reported with that, having to do with limited OS profile rights. In this case, no local databases will be upgraded, and have to be upgraded manually. But this has supposedly been fixed in 8.0.2, so check if all local databases are not being upgraded, or just the bookmark.
I’ve done some more testing on this. With a Multi-user installation, a Restricted User’s Bookmark.nsf and names.nsf are not updated to the newer template.
With a Single-user installation, a Restricted User’s Bookmark.nsf and names.nsf are updated to the newer templates successfully. (had to give user modify access to program folder)
With a Multi-User installation, a Power User’s Bookmark.nsf and names.nsf are updated to the new templates successfully.
Any ideas on solving the problem with restricted users? I’m using 8.0.2, so I would guess I have the most up to date version of the SmartUpgrade RunAs wizard. Unless there’s something out there newer that corrects this issue.
