Hi all,not sure if this question was asked before, haven´t found anything…
We want to use SmartCards throuout our company but wanted to automate the id enabling process as far as we can go. We have the problem that most of our users don´t read any manual on how to enable this or that so my question is are there any API calls which we can use to automate the process, so that the users just have to stick in their new smartcard and type in their password and all is done for them…?

c-api (beginning with r6.0.2) has the ability to automate this process.
see SECManipulateSC (using SC_manip_SCEnableID).
search for posts from “dave kern”, who has added some valueable info regarding smartcards in this forum.
i’m not shure if running such an application on client-side will have much advantage compared to a mail describing all steps needed to smartcard-enable an id-file.
but would rather fit to admin-side (having access to id-files, smartcards), but would also mean that she/he has to change smartcards for each user. i think there’s no way to avoid this…
