Does any one have experience in use of Smart upgrade to upgrade the 4.6 client to 6.5.2 ?

Subject: “You can’t get there from here”
Say the subject outloud with your worst Maine accent.
The SmartUpgrade feature was introduced in 6.0, so the code does not existing in 4.6. To upgrade to 6.x, you would have to use some other method of deploying the client. (Manual installs, Upgrade by Mail, Active Directory, or Third Party deployment tools)
Then once you are running 6, you can use SmartUpgrade to go to any later 6.x version, or even to 7.0 and beyond!
