Smart Upgrade Desktop Policy HELP

Hey everyone!

I’ve been searching every where to see if it is possible to apply certain settings after a smart upgrade has finished. My smart upgrade package runs perfectly and my Desktop/Master policy work great. The user is asked to upgrade (from 6.5.4 to 8.0.2) whenever they authenticate with the Domino server. The upgrade goes great, but I want to know if it is possible to customize some settings like the following through a policy or some other means:

  1. There is a setting in 8.0.2 called “Show check marks in margin for selected documents”. I want this setting to be enabled by default.

  2. I want Sametime “Contact list synchronization” to be set as “Replace the server copy with the local copy” by default.

  3. I want the user to upgrade their mail template to R8. I can get this to work via the desktop policy, but if the user clicks the “Cancel” button they are never prompted again.

  4. After upgrading the mail template I notice the emails are organized by the oldest date at the top. Is there any way I can change it to the newest email first? Before the upgrade that is how it was organized.

I have a few others, but if I can figure out how to get these working it would be a great start. If anyone has any suggestions or can point me to the right location to figure this out it would be VERY much appreciated. One other thing, I’ve been trying to look at the InstallShield Tunner for Lotus Notes, but I’m not seeing much that would help, nor any proper documentation on how to use the thing.

Subject: Follow up

In case anyone else is interested I found a way to get some of my settings out to our users via the desktop policy and Notes.ini settings. For my first question previously, I added a line to the Notes.ini called “ViewsCheckMarkSel=1”. However, keep in mind that there is a known bug you can read about here–>http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21318795. I also discovered I can force some of our users to use the Notes Basic configuration by adding “UseBasicNotes=1” to the Notes.ini as well.

In terms of the third problem, once I replaced my design on my workstation with mail8.ntf I was able to make the appropriate changes on the desktop policy and it is working much better now. Also, I added the * option for the “If Running This Version Of Notes” which has helped greatly.

As for the second and fourth problems I haven’t found a solution yet, but if I do I’ll be sure to share my findings. Cheers!
