Slow keyboard response in 8.5 basic on OS X

I’ve experienced an issue with the basic beta 1 client for OS X where keyboard input is slow at times to the extent it often fails to record keystrokes, resulting in chunks of text missing as you type. I’ve trieds restarting the Notes client to clear it, but it only seems to be corrected after a machine restart. Btw, I don’t see this behavior occurring in other apps - only Notes. I have a vague recollection of experiencing something similar with older Notes client versions on Mac. Anyone else seen this?

Subject: See this as well

I am using the standard install, but see this as well.

Times I see the problem more than others are: when the local client is busy (compact running locally, subscription search, view rebuilds, etc) or when Time Machine runs, or other situations where the system or Notes is busy.

Subject: …and me

Every now and again Notes goes into what I call “teletype mode” where the typed characters appear at the rate of about one character per second, like the old 110 baud teletypes with the golfball print head. I have gone to other applications when Notes is doing this, and they are just fine, no problems. It goes away by itself eventually without having to restart.
