Simple question about moving data folder

I have not received a response here: http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd85forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedWeb/c603830c0fb77a9e8525764600137d33?OpenDocument

I have a simple problem and just need a few simple answers:

To move one’s data folder (C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes\Data or /home/username/lotus/notes/data), is anything required beyond the following:

  1. create a copy of …/Lotus/Notes/Data somewhere

  2. Open File > Preferences and set that location in the ‘Basic Notes Client Configuration’ section under the top right field called ‘Local Application Folder’

I have done this and then renamed the default Lotus folder and not been able to start Notes.

I have manually altered …/Data/Notes.ini to point to the new data location and not been able to start Notes.

This seems like it should be incredibly easy. What am I missing that Notes is still relying on its default location. What else should I change?

Best regards,

John

Subject: Registry

That should be enough in R7 but R8 I think that relies heavily in the registry (Don’t know in Linux) so you might want to check the key HLM/Software/Lotus. There is a key called Data Path.

Cheers

Subject: Thanks - more info?

hmmm - where is this registry? I’m not familiar with this…
