Show Images for all messages from sender

Unless I’m just missing this capability, I have to click on “Show Images” for every message where I want to see images. Is there a way to do this just once per sender, but still leave off for unknown senders?

If not, I suggest IBM fix this by Enable Show Images be on by default for an approved list of senders. It’s a pain and a real slow-down to have to click on Show Images every time I go to a new message, especially with the fact that the Delete key doesn’t work once you click on the message to show the images, because then I have to also click back on the message list to for the Delete key to delete it.

Thanks,

Colin

Subject: Switch it off

It was annoying me found it better to switch it off:

file-preferences-user preferences-mail-internet

take tick out of Do not show images without my permission

Subject: It is under preferences and only applies when images are remote

Like the previous posting indicated, it is under File → Preferences → Mail → Internet

Subject: But then all security benefits lost

That is a convenient option - certainly speeds up reading messages with pictures. But… then we lose the entire benefit of getting to screen the message before downloading pics.

Spam often uses pic downloading to verify that an e-mail address is real.

What would be nice is an additional option to only turn picture downloading on by default for whitelisted e-mail addresses (including everything from the address book, but not limited to names in the address book - I would not want to add the Wall Street Journal news alerts to my address book for example, but would still like them to automatically show pictures).

Thanks,

Colin

Subject: Does Notes 8.5.1 still have this global option?

I just installed Lotus Notes 8.5.1 and see the Show Image link on each email.

It seems the option File → Perferences → Mail → Internet → Allow image downloading is not there anymore.

Note that File → Perferences → Mail is not allowed any longer. It’s More → Preferences.

Is there any changes in this new update level? Controlling the option from each email is really not a solution.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Subject: Excellent suggestions in this post

Allow for personal and enterprise whitelists – where such messages always “show images”.

Could also show images for everyone in your PNAB.
