Hey, everybody.
Help who knows, the command “show dir” outputs information to the console, but in log.nsf information is not saved. Other show server commands are found in log.nsf.
The log.nsf has never been complete, it hides many show commands as they are also used by the admin client to retrieve infos. You also don't see crash messages (impossible to implement) or long held lock dumps.
If you want to see all available information, consult the console.log or - even more detailed and complete - the domino controller logs dcntrlr####.log (by default active in Windows only) in data. Those are also properly rotated daily and have no size limits.
Hello Moises,
The Log.nsf does store the log information; however output of some of the commands, such as "show dir" is not getting captured into Log.nsf.
To view the output of such commands, please access the console.log file of the Domino server.
This File is located in the "IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT" folder under the Data directory.
Example files:-
console.log
console_Srv1_2025_04_28@08_24_41.log
I hope the above information will help in answering your concerns
Thanks & Regards
Nishant Shendre
It's all understandable. But nowhere is it described what is in log.nsf and what is not. There is no information in the documentation about what command is fixed in log.nsf and what is not. Apparently, there is no information about what goes into log.nsf and what does not.
Hi @Moises Romero Barraneche
You can refer to the below product doc that explains the contents of LOG.NSF.
