I want to let users not to save attachments. Just want to let the m read it. I don’t want when they right click on attachments they should get an propmt for saving it. I mean I don’t want users download attachments into their local drives. Just they should be able to read it.
If you have the answer please help me in this regard.

Not sure where you are trying to do this (mail or a custom DB) but one way is to put the the attachment in a rich text field and hide it. Then give the user a button that detaches the attachment (extract) to a network drive and sets the Setfileattr FilePath, ATTR_READONLY + ATTR_NORMAL which makes the file read only at the OS level.
This will not keep the user from seeing the files on the network drive but it is a way to use security by obscurity.

I don’t think you can prevent user to have it after they read it.
I can get the file from C:\Documents and Settings[LoginName]\Local Settings\Temp\notesXXXXX.

Thank you all for your response.I want the feature in Web & in Custom Db. When the user will click on the attchment link in web, it should not ask file downloaded option and it should open in a new window. On the whole I don’t want users to save any files. But just I want them to only read attachments.
