I want to try something and I would like to know if anyone tried this before me and has some tips.I have a Domino 6.5.2 server on Windows 2003 with two partitions on a NTFS drive. Now I would like to try to create a server with the same kind of functionality (there’s more on it than just Domino) on Linux. I basically want that if the server is booted on Windows it uses a Domino partition and when it’s booted on Linux it uses the same Domino partition, so that it’s not noticable for the users (me and my spouse) whether the server is running on Windows or linux. Has anyone tried this? If so, any tips on what to watch out for?

Hi Martijn,Domino supposed to be platform agnostic. However there are some things you might want to check. First: Can Suse write to NTFS? If no you need to use a different format (FAT is not exactly a brilliant idea). Second: Install Domino in Linux first, move the content of the data directory to a backup location. The data directory shouldn’t sit “below” the program directory, but somewhere else. Actually the program directory doesn’t need to be accessible by windows at all.
Install in Windows next. Aim at the same data directory. Compare the differences of the data directories (there might be differences in the iNotes parts, but thats a guess).
Configure them both (some Cut&Paste of the ini file helps) and off you go.

NTFS can be READ only by linux.
This is not a good idea. What you can maybe try is using linux as OS and windows in an emulation, so she can do whatever she wants in a windows runing under linux…
Another option, is install an emulation for linux under windows, and run domino from there.
