Hello everyone!
I'm trying to install the HCL-DX using the console ./imcl -c (without GUI), the problem is that after adding the necessary repositories and following the installation items, it fails at the end due to the fact that WAS and WP can't be on the same package group, which is fair, but during the installation steps, I don't have the possibility to set the path where WP should be installed, the console just gives me where the path for WAS should be set.
So I tried installing them separately, first [IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 9.0.5.0 IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 8 8.0.5.35], then [IBM WebSphere Portal Server 8.5.0.0, IBM WebSphere Portal Enable 8.5.0. 0], and I was able to set the WP installation path, but my main interest here is to select IBM WebSphere Portal Server [ [X] Portal Server Profile ], as I was able to do in the first scenario, but this isn't the case, because the console doesn't give me the option of selecting [[X] Portal Server Profile ], so the profile won't be created automatically!
Is there anything we can do about this case?

Step 17 allows you to define more advanced settings, but in my case it doesn’t work, because I’m not able to select the Portal Server section (step 16). In other words, to get to step 17, you have to go through step 16.

You might want to double check and make sure you have downloaded the correct packages to a Portal 8.5 install. Please refer to the following guidance.....

Is there a specific reason why you don't use a response file instead of working with the console? Is imho easier, repeatable, scriptable (i.e. can be automated) and therefore less error prune.
The attached sample response file performs the base WP v9.5 installation with WASv9.0.5 from the download package with a FP (whichever you inpack to /tmp/docker/iimrepo/pkgs/was90fp), Java 8. with FP + the iFix PI59896 (unpacked to /tmp/docker/iimrepo/pkgs/wp90if) and then you can install it by running:
./imcl input /tmp/docker/responsefiles/install_was90_java8_wp85_enable.rsp.txt -acceptLicense -log /tmp/WAS90_WP85_install.log
To upgrade further you can create additional response files and invoke these the same way (or for FP installation just run the imcl command).

First of all thank you for your answer, it's very helpful.
I would like to ask you, what is the difference between WP Server and WP Enable, and is it necessary to install both? And what happens if we install WP Server without WP Enable?
I was able to install HCL Portal using the response file, but when I checked the installed packages, I found that only WP Server was installed -of course beside WAS-, I was able to access HCL Portal and activate the v95 UI features, but I'm stuck on transferring the database (especially at step 9) [Wizard], so I don't know if I need WP Enable or not.

if you install WebSphere Portal Server and/or WebSphere Portal Enable is primarily a licensing issue with different entitlements (clustering, portlets included etc.). For the exact differences of the two entitlements I leave to answer to someone from HCL like for example @Lauren Wendel (thx in advance Lauren).
But if you've got enable package for download I think you can assume that you are entitled to it and in the case you should install enable as well.
What are you issues with the database transfer (sorry, don't know by heart what step 9 in the wizard is :( but as per this link page 51 it should be the step when the database is transferred)? What does your installation look like? Are you installing a cluster? Did you just install a single standalone server so far?

If one is upgrading it will be important to upgrade to the next release using the same package (e.g Server or Enable, etc) as was used for the initial install. The Server package includes all of the Portal Server components and Enable, Extend also WCM include Web Content in addition to Portal Server.
