Setting Value to Author Field

Hi

I am creating an author dynamically through an agent on xpages. In the query save event of the xpage I am trying to det the value of author by using Replaceitemvalue. Nut in my case the field is getting created but the value is blank. Tried it with hard coded value too but it fails. Please can someone help me and tell me how to set value to and authors field using replaceitemvalue.
