other than with a stylesheet is there a way to set a column width in a view so that text will begin to wrap once it meets the column width? I know there is a column width setting in Domino but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

You can make the text wrap setting a column width. Just set
View Properties > Style tab > Row height (lines)
to a value greater than 1 (which also improves the efficiency of the view by removing the “nowrap” attribute from every table cell).
