Server setup debug?

We are having big problems getting R6 to setup on a particular machine.

After installation, starting the server for the first time brings up the console, the header info appears and then nothing… nserver.exe continues to tick the CPU over at between 0 and 10%, and does so for hours.

Is there any way to peer inside this terrible ‘black box’, and get some status messages by inserting some notes.ini debug parameters? It really is impossible to diagnose what the problem is without it.

Thanks in anticipation…

Are you by any chance doing a remote login to the server? If so, you might want to try using the -console argument.

Hi suzie

I saw that behavior once, a long time ago on a very old machine with OS/2.

I waited days, and finally it worked.

I suppose, it has someting to do with hardware and/or OS.

Hope it helped a bit.

I only had such weird startup behaviour once on a test machine I installed Domino on. This machine had been messed with before to test a new version of our backup software.

Formatting and installing the OS completely took care of it.

This is on W2K server, and I wish we had days to wait for this to finish, but in this place you get a 5 hour window if you’re lucky! Thanks anyway.

Have you uninstalled Domino and then reinstalled it?

Yes, several times. Completely cleared all references to it in the registry, also.
