All of my Domino servers are now on 8.5.2. Mixed 32 and 64 bit versions of Domino running in a Windows 2003 / 2008 R2 environment. I have Server_Session_Timeout=30 in all my server’s INI files, however when viewing Notes connections via Domino Administrator I frequently see sessions left open for hours. Anyone else out there having issues with this setting and Domino ignoring your specifications? Is this a “known” thing? TIA.
Subject: RE: Server_Session_Timeout doesn’t work in Domino 8.5.2?
I was able to track down the cause, but no good answer from IBM. Here’s what happens… a user opens his/her mail file on the server. The user then opens another person’s mail file on the server. The user sits idle in file B for an extended period, however user keeps his/her session to file A active. The session to file B shows, say for example, 400 minutes of inactivity, but shows, say for example, 10 minutes of inactivity in file A. Rather than disconnecting the session to file B that has been idle for 400 minutes and leaving the session to file A open, solely, it leaves both sessions open. Seems to defeat the purpose of this setting in my personal opinion, but maybe that’s just me.
