Server not responding - server is up?

Hi All,

Has anybody come across this problem? I have browsed through the forum for issue but have had no luck.

There are a number users over the last few days who are experiencing connecting to the mail server from the notes client. The server is up and running and there are no errors on the console or the log.

-This only happens when the user/s first log in the morning or restart the PC’s. 3 attempts are made at opening the mail file before making a successful connection.

-Once they are working in notes and happen to restart there notes client, they can connect on the first attempt without any problems.

-It is only happening when they restart there PC or log in for the first time in the morning.

Quite possibly be a notes client or desktop related issue here?

In the meantime I have increased the TCIP timeout duration to 60 secs from 5. Not sure if this will make any difference but we will see.

There have been no changes to the network, domino/windows server or user’s desktops.

Strange… Have you checked the size of the database? If it is a big database (as can often happen with mail databases), it might be indexing it when it opens up for the first time…

Hi Alain,

The mailboxes arent all that big in size.

I added a connection document in the meantime to see if that helps.

Could this possibly be an issue with DNS?
