Having problems setting up my first server.

  1. Installed Domino OK

  2. Installed Client along with Administrator on client machine.

    • able to ping server OK

  3. Started Administrator in order to configure server but get the message :-

    "Server error: The public key that is being used does not match the one that

    was certified. Check the servers log file for details."

    The id file/user that is being used I beleive has come from the servers Notes

    directory. Even copied locally.

    How can I solve this ‘catch 22’ situation ? How can I create a new user that is

    certified? Can’t access the servers log file as can’t get onto the server. Ahh!!

    p.s. Even tried removing the server and re-installing but re-install did not prompt

     for new user.id, cert.id etc so I guess if this is an option I need guidance

 on why this did not work also - removal was via Control Panel "Add/Remove

 programs"

We had this problem recently after one of our remote servers was reinstalled by local IT technicians without consulting with us. It turned out that they had created a new server id and Domino was using this.

Therefore I would advise checking the server id which the server is using in the notes.ini file under serverkeyfilename= and ensure it is using the correct id. If not then correct the line in the notes.ini file.

If it is using the correct id then then copy and paste the public key from the server id to the public key field in the server document. To do this go to the Administrator client, Configuration and ID Properties. Then choose the server id file and in the box that opens

Your Identity and Your Certificates. Then highlight the server name and click on Other Actions and Mail, Copy Certificate (Public Key). Then open the server document for that server and put it in to edit mode and go to Administration and paste it in to the Certified Public Key field, replacing anything that is already there.

If the public key is the same in server document and in the correct server id then you should not be getting this message.
