Server Crash every night when compact task is in progrees. this happens after upgrading from 8.0 to 8.01. i have enable Compact -B program in Conf Doc.
any suggestions!!

You say that this is happening overnight - do you have any other maintenance jobs running at the same time, backups for example? A customer of mine just disabled backups of mail.box on their iSeries Domino partitions because they were being corrupted by the overnight backup (shouldn’t be backed up anyway, mail.box is far too transient).
Do you have an NSD output with the fatal stack? And have you raised a PMR with IBM support?

Thanks for all your responses.I have scheduled a [program to run Compact -B on all my mail file at 10. P.m. at this no any other processes are running (except Domino). i don’t see any patterns when the crash occur. time and database are different with each crash. my Domino Server runs on AIX 5.3. is any one having similar problem. i tied compacting in a day time on a weekend same problem occured. is there any way to over come this issue?

I would first see if the crash was on the same database each time. If this is the case then I would run maintenance on the DB. If the crash is on different DB’s then I would open a PMR with IBM.
