Sending eMail with a different InternetAddress

Every few months I receive a requirement from another one of my small customers to have a different mail database from which she can send mails with a different InternetAddress, as it is easy to do in Outlook. In former times I have used the Teammail from OpenNTF, but this is based on the Notes 7 mail template. I am aware of the possibility to switch the location and the Id, but this is much more complicated for the user than in other mail applications. And I am aware of the possibility to do some changes to the actual mail template, but this is far too costly. Does HCL or anyone other have a simple solution for this?

Hi,

One workaround for your requirement is to setup a Mail-in Database on the Domino server to have separate email address for sending.

Using this database when the user send email to outside the email ID will look as below

You can refer the below document for "Creating a Mail-In Database document for a new database"

https://help.hcl-software.com/domino/10.0.1/admn_creatingamailindatabasedocumentforanewdatabase_t.html

Thank you.

Hi Shrikant,

I am aware of that workaround. If you look at what the recipient will see, it is not distinct enough from the InternetAddress related to the Id used to create the mail.

This is what you see in the mail header:
ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx.google.com;
spf=pass (google.com: domain of juergen.kunert@itee.de designates 85.xxxxx4 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=Juergen.Kunert@itee.de
Return-Path: <Juergen.Kunert@itee.de>
Received: from xxxxm (xxxxm. [xxxx4])
by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id l23si1435451ejb.322.2020.06.30.03.41.29
for <is2354@gmail.com>
(version=TLS1_3 cipher=TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 bits=256/256);
Tue, 30 Jun 2020 03:41:29 -0700 (PDT)
Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of juergen.kunert@itee.de designates xxxxxx as permitted sender) client-ip=xxxxxx4;

See some recipient screenshots:

As the requirement to use a different InternetAddress is fulfilled by other eMail programs with no additional costs I think it would be very helpful to have a changed template or another solution.

Hi,

I think this needs template customization where you wanted to hide active ID name and email address which was used to send the email from Mail in database or generic mail database.

Thank you.

I solved making SMTP gateway mail server remove "Sender" header before sending: this way you can use Mail-in db mailbox and recipients will only see "Mail-in db" address without any "Sent By".

I agree with you that it should be easier to change Internet address but I think we will see it only in v12 release.

Hope this helps...

This is a requirement I have all the time, and is one of the main reasons why clients dont move from Outlook. In outlook sending from different e-mail addresses is simple. Any solution has to be as simple in Notes or clients simply wont move.
