Searching for today's documents

Hello all…I have a search documents problem that I was hoping that someone could help me with. An user is having problems searching for documents that was created on the same day. Additionally, there is already a full text index on the database and I recently updated the index.

Is there some kind of restriction that Notes doesn’t allow users to search for today’s documents? Thanks for your help in advance.

Have you tried the ALL DOCUMENTS view???

Thank you, Nathan, for your response. The view that I was searching in has all documents. There’s no specific view selection other than “Form = ”. I thought maybe there is no way of searching documents based on the date. Is there a time period where you can not search for documents created on that day until the next day? I’m just throwing out ideas of what could be happening and thought maybe someone can point me to the right direction.

Firstly I am an Administrator so LS stuff is complete jibberish sorry. But what is the FULL TEXT index rate? Once a day to run over night?

It’s OK. I appreicate your help anyways. When you say “FULL TEXT index rate”, are you referring to the “Update frequency (server only)” selection in the Database Properties box under the Full Text tab? If so, it is set to ‘Daily’. Should I change it to ‘Immediate’? What will that do to the server? Again, thank you for your help, Nathan.

Depends on how beefy your server is and how heavily it is used.

Fact is: Users will not be able to find new documents through FT search unless the FT index has been refreshed. It’s a trade-off.

Even if you update the index manually, this request is queued by the server and executed whenever there is time to. If this seems to take a long time, you might consider looking at your server’s resources. But Nathan will probably be of more help in this field.

All that has been said before is correct- my question is do you really want to use full text search for the information? Isn’t there field info that might bring this to the forefront? That requites no FT. FT is great, but always lags, and FTing more frequently than once a days seems excessive for even beefy servers. ;-)Tom

A wise suggestion, that I strongly support.
