Search results different if done with window title search text box and search text box on top of a view

Domino/Notes Version: 12.0.2 FP(latest), 14.0 FP4 and 14.5 FP1

Operating System: macOS
Client Notes

Problem/Query:
I execute a query on the menu bar search text box and get 0 results. I do the same query on the search text box that one can use on top of views and it shows correct results. I took care of double checking where (in which view/folder) the search was being performed.

The query was:
test subject “with something” in quotes

Please note:

• I have unchecked the option to use Notes syntax on the preferences.
• I new replica of the mail file was created to test

This is reproducible problem.

Database is local, Full text already recreated to no avail.

Any clues ?

We’ve tried with Notes 12 and Notes 14.5 on Mac but unable to reproduce the issue in house.

Would you please share the screen shots of searching on the menu bar search text box and searching in the view?

the screen shot that follows was the case where I insert the search in the text box above the view … it finds the document

next is the one where I search using the text box in the windows title bar

Thanks for the screen shots. I can reproduce it in house now.

If I change Theme from the default “Notes 11 Theme” to “Notes 9 Theme” as below. I can search in search center(toolbar search) as expected.

You can test and use it (Notes 9 theme) as a workaround if it works for you too.

Hi Xiaoyun,

thanks for your suggestion. I tried changing theme and in fact it works as expected. Unfortunately, changing theme to all users would be a mess (too different from Notes 11 theme).

For the time being I am going to recommend users to avoid the search center (toolbar search) and use the view search text box.

I opened the case : CS1414187

I hope a fix comes soon.
