Sametime meetings 11.5 and reverse proxy

Does anybody knows how to get work sametime meetings behind a reverse proxy?

Ports to open? Reverse proxy rules?

Please see the following documentation:

Using reverse proxy or portal servers with the Sametime Community Server

I would also check the

Requirements and limitations of Sametime reverse proxy support

Additionally as Tony had exlained in a Previous Query

ensure that the Reverse proxy does not interfere with our cookies. Otherwise, to the RP this is simply another WebServer/application.

Please let me know if tis was helpful

Hi Daniel,

both references are about the Community server, Jacques asked about the Meeting server...

You need to open 443 and 10000 ports on reverse proxy.

443 (TCP) is used for HTTPS requests, 10000 (UDP) port - for video connection.

Hi,

we have installed meetings on Rancher (RKE) kubernetes cluster with three nodes. There is an nginx proxy in front of three kubernetes nodes. It is configured to proxy UDP and HTTPS traffic to kubernetes nodes.

We can connect, create the meeting and also establish video and audio communication. The problem is performance which gets really bad in about a minute from starting the meeting.

Anybody had any similar issues? Could this be nginx proxy issue? Any suggestions?

- The network should not be a problem as we can use any other video conferencing products without issues.... even sametime that was setup by HCL ...

- We are testing this on the inside network so IPS/firewall is not an issue here ...

regards,

Andrej

I tested Meetings on Docker and there is no problem with performance - full hd picture work without any lag.

By default, if there are only two users in meeting, then they use peer-to-peer connection. But when 3 or more users - then all A/V traffic is going through Meetings server.

Which scenario are you testing (2 users or more)?

Hi,

I am testing with 2 users. The diference with kubernetes cluster is that there is ingress on the kubernetes side and then nginx loadbalancer/proxy as an user entry point..... so many things are different than in just a docker scenario...

I will also open a support ticket and let you all know what we find out.

regards,

Andrej
