Hello, all. I am trying to run Domino 9 (64-bit) on a Windows 7 system. I realize that Windows 7 is not a supported platform for the Social Edition server, but this is the platform I have for my development server. I have read hints that there are some considerations, so any tips/tricks/hints that you can provide would be welcome.
Subject: Don’t install in default “Program Files” directory
A couple things to note:
To avoid problems with Windows security (not allowing write to system directories), I would recommend not installing the server in the default “c:\Program Files\IBM\Domino” directory. For example, if you install in the “C:\IBM\Domino” directory instead, then you wont have any problems editing config files such as notes.ini etc.
Also, if you want to see and have access to the server console window, then you must choose to start the server as an application (rather than a service). Of course you can always use the remote console in Administrator or the Java Domino console too.
