Run on behalf of showing server name in the mail

I have a scheduled agent that is used for sending mails. In the ‘Run on behalf of’ property, I have given some id.

But the mails are coming from the server id.I checked the From field of the mail, which says the server id.

I know setting the maildoc.principal=“XYZ” will solve the purpose, but I see in the help:

"Run on behalf of-------->Lets you specify on whose authority this agent can run. Note that restricted signers can run agents only under the same authority as their own (that is, the restricted signers enter only their own name or else the agent returns an error at run time). Unrestricted signers and signers with rights to run “On behalf of anyone” can run agents on behalf of anyone. Whoever you specify in this field has to be included in the ACL of any database being accessed.

If the agent is sending mail or creating documents, this name is used as the mail sender or document author.

Note This feature is not supported on releases earlier than Lotus Domino Designer 6.

"

Is this the un ideal behaviour of the notes or I am doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance

Akash,

Did you sign the agent with the server’s id? Is the server listed as being able to run agents on behalf of others (security tab of server doc)?

Thanks for response.

The agent is signed with my id.

I checked the security tab of the server document,

“Sign agents to run on behalf of someone else:” was Null.

I added my id in the field but still the mail is coming from the server id.

Thanks

not sure but you may need to restart Amgr or even the serevr for the change you made to the server doc to take affect. What you’re trying to do should work, however, as I just had to do this yesterday and it worked fine for me. My agent is signed by Admin/ACME, run on behalf of is set to CN=User/OU=ACME and the e-mail comes from “User”

I am not sure but suspect that adding the Directory Assistance should solve the purpose.
