Rules Not Executing

Hi,

I am trying to set a rule to forward work emails to my personal email. I first tried the following:

When Sender contains “sender’s name” send full copy to “my email address”.

Nothing happened. The email just sits in my inbox in lotus notes but never gets sent to my personal email.

Then I tried:

When to contains “my name” send full copy to “my email address”.

Same thing…nothing happens. I do not have admin access of any kind and I am totally new to Lotus Notes (8.5.1 BTW). Is there a trick to getting rules to work?

I found posts online about disabling then enabling, certain settings in the calendar, and more but nothing worked.

Thank you,

~k

Subject: wrong forum

Sorry - I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. I am using Notes 8.5. Is there any way to move it over to that forum? I don’t want to double post.

Thanks,

Kania

Subject: Admin restrictions?

Test to see if mail rules are working by creating a rule to move mail to another folder. If that works, I think the likely answer is that your admin doesn’t want you to forward mail to external addresses.

Subject: that worked

Ok, I tried and it worked. I find this odd…isn’t it common procedure to forward email to a co-worker if for example you go on vacation?

I assume I would have to contact the Helpdesk (Admin) to this resolved.

Subject: Internal forwarding

You’re admin may have set it up so that you’re able to forward to the internal addresses of your coworkers using a mail rule, but not to external addresses. This can be done while still allowing regular forwarding.

Subject: How To prevent Forwarding

How does an admin stop a user from setting up a mail rule to forward messages to an external email address?

Our HR department have asked us to do this and the only thing I can think of doing is to remove the “send copy to” action from the mail template and hence changing everyone’s mailbox design. Eliminating any currently active rules of this nature is even more complex!

Anyone have any ideas?
