We are currently testing out the roaming feature in 8.5. When I upgrade an existing user to roaming and choose to have their ID stored in the personal address book… how can I verify that it’s actually there? While trying to roam to various pc’s, I am being prompted for the user’s ID file. Shouldn’t it be pulling the ID from the user’s personal address book that is stored on the server? There has got to be a way to check and make sure the ID is actually getting put in the PAB. Please advise. Thank you!

One method of checking that the id file is in the user’s roaming personal address book is to use the utility notespeek (from the Lotus Sandbox). Open the DB with Notespeek then “Profiles” → “roaminguserid” → $File.Examing the file Object to see the attribute “file-name” has the value “UserID”.
Incidentally, beware if you are using Single Sign on and synchronising Windows and Notes passwords. You get a mess with Roaming Users unless they always change their passwords in Notes (NOT Windows).
You also get a mess if a user has previously used a PC and his ID File is still there from his previous visit and he has changed his password in the meantime. He is then asked for his old password.
Check out the new ID Vault feature of Domino 8.5+ . It may be better for your needs.

We will probably be opening a PMR on this, but just in case someone already knows the answer, please let us know. We have a roaming user that tries to run Notes on another PC and they are still being prompted for their ID. I went to verify the ID in the roaminguser profile document of their names.nsf file that is stored in their roaming folder on their mail server and the file-name field in the $FILE object is actually set to UserDic instead of UserID. That is looking like a bug to me. Any help would be appreciated.
