RnRMgr checking mail-in database

Hi

After upgrading to Domino 8 from Domino 6, we found the following error logs in server:

=========================================

03/04/2009 02:40:17 PM RnRMgr: WARNING: The room/resource named ‘xxx@domainame.com’ contains illegal characters. The only valid characters are letters, numbers, ampersand, apostrophe, hyphen, period, space, and underscore.

=========================================

Whilst xxx@domainname.com is actually the internet address for our mail-in databases, and they’re not resources.

Have anyone met with this problem before?

Pls advise

Regards

Rus

Subject: RnRMgr did not like the resource name

The warning message:

03/04/2009 02:40:17 PM RnRMgr: WARNING: The room/resource named ‘xxx@domainame.com’ contains illegal characters. The only valid characters are letters, numbers, ampersand, apostrophe, hyphen, period, space, and underscore.

is indicating that some R&R entry has xxx@domainname.com as the “name” for a room or resource in your dB. That is the actual value on some room/resource doc and some reservation(s). It also likely matched the NAB entry as well.

As part of the redesign in R7, R&R became less 'loosey goosey" about what it would allow for names. While RnRMgr dislikes the name and is trying to warning you about a ‘bad’ name it will still operate. It will just continue to nag you until you use the Rename Resource feature and rename the entity to a ‘valid’ name.

R&R names now adhere to the same restrictions as user names for lots of different technical reasons. (We described them at LS 2005 at our talk on the RnRMgr and the new design.).

So for now I strongly suggest you check your R&R dB for said room or resource and then rename it to one that meets the criteria described. That will make your R&R system happier and will get rid of the nudge warnings in your logs.
