RightFax / Domino question

I want to upgrade my Domino server to version 7 (or 8) in the near future, but cannot because our RightFax application requires R6.

Can I move the RightFax databases to another server running R6.5.6 then upgrade my mail server to R7 or R8?

My concern is that a template change on the new server will modify the design of the directory on the RF Domino server and make it nonfunctional. Is this a concern? Has anyone seen this or tried this?

Technically, the RF Domino server would still be running R6 in this scenario.

I successfully upgraded our Domino server to 7.0.2 and left the Notes Client on our RightFax server at 6.5 - just make sure not to upgrade the database design of the RightFax databases. We use the “NO MAIL INTEGRATION” option in RightFax however, if you are using mail integration (meaning RightFax has modified your mail templates) this may not work for you.
